Dan Green, the admitted author of the Colorado Republican Caucus letters, has registered his "caucus" with the Colorado Department of State as a limited liability corporation. (Link opens an Adobe Acrobat file; if you don't have the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader, download it here.)
According to the registration, the physical address of the Colorado Republican Caucus is 300 S. Jackson Street, Suite 100, Denver CO 80209. One telephone directory search turned up a business called The Dan Group at that address (entry #48) with telephone number 303-398-7065. According to Qwest's directory, The Dan Group is an employment agency.
However, according to the Colorado Department of State, The Dan Group is an available business entity name, which demonstrates that The Dan Group is not actively doing business in that name. In addition, the Colorado Department of State business database contained no exact matches for "The Dan Group" or "Dan Group," which thus confirms that this entity was never incorporated in Colorado.
A Google search of the Jackson Street address revealed a business called FreeStone Software at 300 S. Jackson Street, Suite 100. FreeStone Software is also registered with the Colorado Department of State at 300 S. Jackson Street Suite 100, Denver. FreeStone Software's website describes the nature of its business as "Internet security, filtering and mobile networking solutions. Providing a safer, less frustrating, more wholesome Internet experience." Curiously, FreeStone Software is not listed in the Qwest telephone directory for Denver. However, there is a FreeStone Software listed at 6030 Apache Dr Larkspur, CO 80118-9740 at 303-398-7016. That telephone number is also listed under the name of Dave Gonnion, who according to FreeStone Software press releases is its president.
Interestingly, the author of the Colorado Republican Caucus and the president of FreeStone Software have the same initials--D. G. Moreover, the scrawled signature affixed to the Colorado Republican Caucus letters could be read or mis-read as either Dan Green or just as plausibly, as Dave Gonnion. Two indistinct letters that are purportedly a doubled "e" could in fact be the two letters "o" in "Gonnion." The two surnames also end with the letter "n." These rather interesting coincidences suggest the intriguing possibility that Dan Green and Dave Gonnion may in fact be the same person.
Finally, the Colorado Republican Caucus was registered with the Colorado Department of State at the Jackson Street address on March 28, 2006--just a few days prior to this posting.
Other entities currently registered at the same suite at the Jackson Street address include:
PB Funding, in good standing. Qwest's directory shows that this entity is currently listed at 300 S. Jackson Street Suite 100 with telephone number (303) 780-7383. In addition, the web site for this business includes the S. Jackson Street, Suite 100 address prominently on every page.
Travel Boutique, in good standing. Qwest's directory shows this entity currently listed at 300 s. Jackson Street, Suite 100 with telephone number (303) 398-7049, which is very similar to the numbers listed for The Dan Group and for FreeStone Software in Larkspur. This business has a web site that includes a map with directions to its office at 300 S. Jackson Street, Suite 100 in Denver.
A Dan Green posted on November 2, 2005 to www.coloradopols.com regarding the outcome of Referenda C and D.
A Dan Green has registered a political action committee called "Stockman PAC" whose purpose is to preserve the record. This is likely in reference to The Record Stockman, billed as the business weekly for the successful stockman. The Record Stockman is based in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
While any or none of these individuals or businesses may have been involved in writing the letters, there is obviously a longer list of possibilities to explore than has been contemplated by the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel or by the "offended" of Mesa County.

Good job Cindy. Regardless of who Dan Green is - his message appears to be clear. If you publicly support Democrats you shouldn't be a hypocrit and run to be a leader in the Republican Party!
What is complicated or slanderous about that?
Also, if you are active and public in supporting a Democrat - you could be called a "Democrat Activist."
Having said that, I don't believe Dan Green should be hunted down like a wild dog.
But, rather he should be drafted. Drafted because he dared to state the obvious!
Drafted because he is a great American.
Drafted because he and his few letters stirred the "festering" pot of good ol boys in Mesa County.
Thank God for great Americans like Dan Green to stand at a distance and notice what every one of us are afraid to say...
What the H*LL is going on in Mesa County!
So keep your eyes peeled...
Watch the SOS for a new "shady" committee called "Draft Dan Green for Governor."
